Sometimes people complain because Nintendo make their games too easy. But perhaps it´s best that way....

This video reminds me of a good SMB2 hack called "Forgotten Dream". I was never even close to compleating stage 2, but this Mario1 hack seems to be at least 10 times harder   Tongue (Cool thing about Forgotten Dream: The Luigi sprite is redrawn as Yoshi!)

Since I´m much more of a videogame-nerd than a metalhead, my knowlege in metal-nerddom is very limited. But you got something there, bothering about that kind of details is a thing they obviously have in common with other groups of extremely devoted people.

Anyway, seing powermetal act Ninja Magic this summer made any doubts about metal+nerddom vanish. Not only did they dress up with ninjamasks, the band was introduced to the music from the NES version of Punch Out! (What´s the matter with swedish metal and Punch out? I love it!) Despite their nerdy image, they delivered kick-ass music too... top notch entertainment! http://www.ninjamagic.tk/

And yeah, Belmont, how´s the book?

RADIOACTIVE CANNIBAL VIKINGS FROM HELL is now finished! It was shown at the music festival "Sjuhärads festivalen" in Sweden. I couldn´t attend to the premiere, but saw my brother´s next two screenings.

It´s actually very entertaining. The soundtrack features local punks "Snorting Mardonas" and a deathmetal group I can´t remember the name of. This flick is very violent, immoral and disgusting, with some good humor and 3000 kronor budget of splatter effects. (About 300 dollars). Unfortunatly, there is no way for you to see it. Since my webhotel´s "unlimited" download capability does not allow more then about 1 gig of downloads a month, I can´t publish it on the net for now. I´ll give you a shout if this gets solved someway.

"Sjuhärads festivalen" was a cozy and enjoyable occation, by the way. There were about 1000 visitors during the 3 days, so plenty of room... Frontname Hammerfall were joined by Ninja Magic (Check them up if you haven´t seen them!) and a few other metal acts, cheered on by Sweden´s lamest audience. There was a good mix of alternative bands synth like fantastic synth-conquerors "the Bläckfisks" (Squeezed into an embarrasing 5X7 meters tent, thus ditching their spectacular laser-show...).

Yeah, I´m sure they are hopeless nerds all of them! Strange that "nerd" seems to have the same meaning in gameculture as "true" in metal culture...

One of the silliest examples of idolizing, thus isolating girl-gamers is this: http://www.missvideogame.com/ Vote for a gir that plays videogames AND looks good too! Wow! Shocked

That´s cool in a way... I hope Game Over can get more recognizion out of it. Still, articles on girls playing games tend to be kind of cliché, hopefully this books author has a fresh perspective to things. I mean, it´s really no sensation that girls do play games since it´s incredibly fun, so a "look, I found a bunch of girls who play games... just like boys do" collection don´t make a lot of sense. Such book may show these noble (and not so noble) gameplaying women as an exeption instead of a part of the community. (If there is such thing as a community...? A part of the big whole, anyways.)

I haven´t read it, and I don´t want to prejudice it, so here´s hoping it´s a great book! And congrats Wire for entering yet another media! It´s great that new readers can take part in your thoughts on videogames and discover the band!:D

Rock & roll man! I´d say you have an ambitious mix there. Nice guitarwork and enough backing instruments to make it interesting. Nice subtie synth. You´ve tried to make it varied,  I like the break around 2.40. The drums are a bit weak and monotone for my taste, but otherwise, a good song!  Cool

Thanks, I´ll give it a try!

EDIT: Film released for free on Vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/8458110

My brother is shooting his second amateur B-movie this summer! It´s called RADIOACTIVE CANNIBAL VIKINGS FROM HELL It´s going to be a 30 minutes splatter/comedy with apocalyptic street gangs, fake blood, bad acting, and of course radioactive vikings. Now he needs YOUR help!

In his last 30 minutes masterpiece, the hilarious splatter/horror film ZOMBIE MAYHEM, my brother used background tunes composed by various friends. I´m begging those of you with recording equipment if you could please lend him some music. It don´t matter if it´s finished demos or 20 minutes of random rehersals and noise, we are very gratefull for anything! So far, the soundtrack features one deathmetal demo, and everything in any rock-genre will fit perfectly in this testosteronic flick.

Those who wish to contribute will recieve the dvd later this year. The film is in swedish language, but there will be crappy subtitles as well.

If you are interested, mail me at I will let you download ZOMBIE MAYHEM as inspiration for the project as well! (Sorry my bandwidth is crappy, so I can´t link it, only give it away to one person at a time! So every curious person needs to mail me personally.)

I´ll answer questions on this forum as well.

Ha ha, cool to see a Game Over song featured that way! Actually, I doubt that guy could finish Castlevania in time either. Either my computer lagged a lot and skipped pieces, or the video is trimmed down quite a bit to fit the length of the song. Eitherway, I´m always impressed by this kind of things.

And great to hear that you sent Transylvanian to OCR. In retrospective, it has turned out to be the Nesperado song I enjoy the most. Hearing a new mix is going to be exiting!

Hey, did you heard the song of 1st level in Batman 1 game???

Yeah, Sunsoft really rocked the NES in the 80:s-90:s!(Journey to Silius, Blaster Master...) Game Over already covered one of their finest moments with Nocturnal Persuation (Gremlins 2) and the more Sunsoft the better...

I finally did it. I tried Guitar Hero II for the first time at an EB store. "You Really Got Me" was butchered beyond recognizion. At least the clerk thought it was entertaining  Smiley

Yeah, beyond doubt! When I got my Dreamcast on the release day (Yes, I´m a Nintendo-traitor too!) it was malfunctioning, and the new one I got broke down after two weeks! So nowerdays I´m very paranoid about these things!

This is yesterdays news, but finally I got a Wii as well. My first day with it was far from problem less, though...

After spending half an hour with the manual, carefully plugging in the 3 cables, I started it and everything seemed fine. The pretty box was standing there like a white brick and after a couple of tries the wiimotes connected. Then I tried to start Wii Sports.

Could not read disc.

All my fears proved to be true! I tried Zelda instead but got the same message. I could not get any help from the errors section, and called the shop to replace it. On the tram I thought of a possible reason for the "malfunctioning" cd reader... The left side of the Wii is wider... perhaps that´s supposed to be the downside?

And yes, I tried to insert the game "upside down" in the shop, and it turned out to work perfectly!

Happy end...

(Epilogue: I´ve turned the pointer OFF in Zelda because I can´t stand to hear Navi everytime I budge it. Now it´s a great game! Cheesy )

It looks absolutely fantastic! But for some reason the square shape reminds me of Bo Diddley Smiley
