I missed it at Retrospelsmässan, but I heared about it afterwards. The coolest version is of course the single "blackbox" edition. Still, I dont´t see why a platformer like this would need a translation... "Just because it could be done" is probably the answer.  Grin

I knew OCR would love this, after all it´s one of the finest tracks you´ve recorded! Great reactions from both judges and members, you certainly deserved this pat on the back after all of your rough years! I´m especially glad to see the appreciation for Juggler, he is indeed an excellent replacement for Tim!  Grin

What a nice artproject  Smiley Even with a natural explaination, it looks kind of magic.

I´m usually not into Slayer, but I´ll have to admit this is great. I especially liked the "instrumental" part about 30 seconds in  Grin

Ironically they got some help from Lars Ulrich  Grin After some negotiations the juridical threat from recordcompanies was removed. Lucky for me, I really like their latest album.

I just had a laugh at this awesome group! I never heared of them before I saw their latest CD at the recordstore, next to Metallica. As their name implies, they play a bizzare mix of Beatles and Metallica fused together. And this is so much better than any "tribute" band  Grin

So I´ve listened to the new song for a month now, about time I try expressing my feelings for it.
After the hints of a simple and rawer sound I expected a trashy, aggressive song. What I got was a track that sounds way more melodic than anything on the Nesperado demo (which for better or worse was a bit rough around the edges). Even a bit laid back -and most of all: confident. And I´m so glad for it.

The more I´ve listened to ”Light´s Out”, the more it strikes me how brilliant the intro is. First we get a pissed off  guitar setting the pace. Then drums, and a thundering bass. I just melt.

The most important change from previous recording is of course the new singer. And I´ll tell you this, I was terrified he would be a step down from Tim. To me, Game Over is a serious band with lots of self distance. You´ve always maintained the balance of keeping a straight face while presenting a nerdy subject.

Luckily the new lineup keeps that tradition. Juggler  is indeed a fantastic singer, and his melancholic interpretation of the verses fits Game Over like a glove (Smell it!  Wink ) 3 minutes in, the ”Cheap Superheroes-scream” returns and unfortunately I´m no fan of it. Not like it´s bad, but I do think Juggler is better at singing than screaming. Listening to the final ”farewell – to the woooorld” is proof of what his awesome lungs are capable of. And as a swede I may not be the right person to judge this, but his english sounds very natural and unforced to me. Juggler is a worthy successor of the Nintendo Metal -throne. I say keep this guy.

The song itself is very solid, you´ve fleshed out a very satisfying arrangement from the relatively simple (despite the weird rhythm) components of the NES track. You´ve even converted it from an overly happy theme and given it a dark side. Having the "about" part of the chorus sung low was the right choice, it adds a lot to the general mood of the song. And is that an improvisation around the Mega Man 3 stage select in the instrumental part?  Very subtle, very good. And just like Shortmann said, the ”plunk” noises are pure gold. The song wouldn´t be the same without little details like that!

I must say Egg´s drums sound much tighter than on Transylvanian Temptation, but I´m sure that derives from the chaotic Nesperado-circumstances. The point is, he now batters with authority and for the first time, Game Over´s drums sound great! And looking at the picture... wow. Egg is a hero! Dasaten is worthy of praise as well, I knew he was good and he did not disappoint. The bass line is groovy indeed!

The carefully written ”war” theme, finally, makes this your strongest Mega Man lyrics to date. The double meaning of Light is taken to good use in the chorus

When the veils of darkness surround you
Light's Out!

Light´s Out has become one of my favorite Game Over songs, and it´s a triumphant start for the new lineup. Great job, boys and girls!

If (even after 2 years) still holds true, then either Metroid or Faxanadu would be amazing.  Kraid's theme has little to work with (since it's a very short tune) but is one of my favorite themes.  Then again, everything from Metroid is amazing (Brinstar is gorgeous and Norfair is dark). But Faxanadu...ooohh, now that was a great little gem.
I agree 100%.

Eons after its release, Little Mac´s Confession keeps spreading rings on the water.
Today it was featured on the site "That Guy With The Glasses" (also featuring the awesome Nostalgia Critic among others) in their "The Music" feature. The NES-footage video contradicts the lyrics 100%, but nevertheless, another feather in the hat for Game Over!

Our latest song went to mastering today. Yay!
Oboy, that´s great news! Can´t wait to hear it  Grin

Timo was (and is) a great vocalist, but it´s very nice to hear that you have a functioning band again. Hopefully Juggler´s voice will do interesting things with the sound, and I´m very excited to hear what Game Over MkII (or is it MkIII ;P) will sound like!
12  General Category / General / Re: Splatter B-movie soundtrack wanted! on: January 01, 2010, 11:47:47 AM
Radioactive Cannibal Vikings from Hell: Special Collectors Gore Edition is finally released for free on Vimeo! If you have the slightest interest in B-movies, splatter and badassness, I highly recommend you to give it a chance. RCVFH is about 30 minutes long, in swedish with crappy english subs. Some scenes are bloody violent indeed, and everything is completely immoral. Age 15 recommended. Don´t be fooled by the first 2 minutes, because frankly, this film is rather awesome!

By the way, best horror-movie soundtrack? I haven´t listened to many outside the film, but I love the creepy strings in "Alien". I find The Nightmare On Elm Street very memorable as well. My, brother is more of a horror-geek than me, bet he could come up with some obscure answers...

I missed this one Smiley It´s very nice to hear the demo, her lead vocals makes you sound a bit like... Crusified Barbara? (Ok, I don´t know any good metal bands with female vocalist  Sad ) Cool to hear the subtile changes Tim made during his execusion of the song too!
14  General Category / General / Re: SMB Death Metal on: November 25, 2009, 06:23:21 AM
Just what I thought  Smiley

Sure they don´t follow the Game Over dogma 100%, but they added some own material at the end, nice! The NES-music clips are a bit unnecessary, but Nylithia definitly has the right attitude!

The castle song has always been death metal, and I think these guys treat it like it deserves  Grin
